PURESPARK – CLEAN HANDS, KIND HEARTS,SPREADING CARE
Project PURESPARK exemplifies Cahoots’ belief that service is most impactful when it restores both physical and emotional dignity. Volunteers showed that even in spaces where fear or hesitation prevails, humanity can shine brightest through simple acts of care
Title: Courage in Service, Compassion in Action
“True courage isn’t the absence of fear it’s acting with compassion despite it.”
🌟 Facing Fear, Choosing Compassion
In a society where stigma and fear often create invisible walls, Cahoots International Foundation chose to step beyond comfort zones and lead with empathy. As part of the Safe and Clean Kozhikode campaign, volunteers initiated Project PURESPARK, a mission to restore dignity, bring care, and foster hope for the residents of the Government Leprosy Hospital, Chevayur.
For many, entering a leprosy hospital evokes hesitation or fear, but Cahoots’ youth faced it with courage, armed with a vision: to transform spaces of avoidance into spaces of respect, care, and humanity.
🧹 Cleaning With Care
The day began with a thorough cleaning drive, where volunteers meticulously restored hygiene and order, transforming the hospital into a cleaner, safer, and more welcoming environment. Each swept floor, polished corner, and disinfected surface was more than a physical act it was a gesture of recognition, respect, and dignity for individuals often marginalised by society.
🍛 Nourishing Bodies and Hearts
Alongside the cleaning effort, volunteers organised a sadhya donation, serving wholesome, freshly prepared meals to the residents. But it wasn’t just about feeding the body. Every meal carried warmth, respect, and a message of inclusion and compassion. Volunteers engaged in conversation, shared smiles, and offered emotional support, small acts that transformed loneliness into belonging and fear into joy.
💬 Breaking Barriers, Building Awareness
Project PURESPARK did more than provide care; it challenged misconceptions around leprosy and encouraged dialogue in the wider community. It highlighted the importance of empathy over ignorance and action over hesitation. The initiative became a reminder that true service often requires stepping into discomfort, and that courage and compassion can coexist beautifully.
🌍 A Movement of Empathy
Project PURESPARK exemplifies Cahoots’ belief that service is most impactful when it restores both physical and emotional dignity. Volunteers showed that even in spaces where fear or hesitation prevails, humanity can shine brightest through simple acts of care. The hospital, once approached with trepidation, became a space of warmth, connection, and hope, a testament to what communities can achieve when hearts unite with purpose.
“Compassion doesn’t wait for comfort, it blooms in courage and action.”
Through Project PURESPARK, Cahoots International Foundation continues to inspire young changemakers and the broader community to embrace the marginalised, serve fearlessly, and transform spaces of stigma into havens of dignity and love.
