Dine, Discuss, and Drive Change: A Spotlight on Kozhikode

In a dynamic and engaging session at RED FM Calicut, Cahoots International Foundation had the privilege of interacting with RJ Swathy, diving deep into the current challenges in the social sector, the untapped potential of local youth, and the importance of committed action toward developing one’s home city. As part of Project CULTURECONNECT, the discussion was paired with a vibrant dining experience, highlighting Kozhikode’s rich and celebrated food culture, creating a unique environment where conversation, connection, and culture intersected.
During the session, participants explored critical social issues, ranging from urban development and civic responsibility to community engagement and youth empowerment. The dialogue emphasised that while challenges persist, the energy, creativity, and dedication of local youth can be harnessed to bring meaningful transformation. RJ Swathy also highlighted the role of media and culture in shaping awareness, celebrating Kozhikode’s culinary vibrance, and connecting people through shared traditions.
The dining component of the session was not merely a meal, but a celebration of Kozhikode’s identity, heritage, and communal spirit, showing how culture can inspire action and unity. The initiative encouraged attendees to reflect on their roots, appreciate local talent, and envision ways to contribute to the city’s growth and standardisation, while remaining proud of its unique flavours and traditions.
