A Celebration of Self-Worth, Joy, and New Beginnings

Overview

Childhood should be filled with love, encouragement, confidence, and hope. Yet, for many children living in care homes, life often unfolds amidst emotional struggles, low self-esteem, social isolation, and the silent feeling of being unseen. Understanding the importance of emotional wellness and self-confidence in shaping a child’s future, Cahoots International Foundation launched Project AWAKENING (Second Phase) a compassionate grooming and wellness initiative designed to uplift, encourage, and emotionally empower children through care, connection, and joyful experiences.

This special outreach was conducted at Free Birds Girls Calicut, a child care home dedicated to supporting and nurturing young girls. The initiative aimed to create a positive and empowering environment where the children could experience care beyond necessities an experience that celebrated their individuality, beauty, confidence, and emotional well-being.

Project AWAKENING was created with the belief that self-care and emotional encouragement can play a transformative role in a child’s personal growth. Through grooming sessions, interactive engagement, confidence-building activities, and heartfelt companionship, the initiative sought to remind every child that they are valuable, capable, and deserving of happiness and opportunity.

A major part of the initiative was supported by Squirr Saloon and Spa, founded by Mr. Navaneeth M Nair and Shijin Kishore, whose professional grooming team brought warmth, care, and positivity to the children. Their efforts transformed simple grooming activities into meaningful moments of self-confidence and joy, helping the girls feel celebrated and appreciated.

The event was organized in association with Rotaract International, under the guidance of DRR Jophin George, with smooth coordination by Event Admin Athul DC and Event Manager Keerthi Shanmugan. The sustainability and social impact dimensions of the initiative were strengthened through the efforts of Anusree, who led the sustainability development aspects of the program. The beautiful moments of laughter, confidence, and transformation throughout the initiative were documented by Mithul Rag, preserving memories filled with hope and happiness.

Project AWAKENING was more than a one-day event it became a heartfelt experience of empowerment where care met confidence, and small acts of kindness inspired brighter smiles and stronger dreams.

Grooming & Self-Care Sessions – Confidence Begins with Care

The grooming sessions conducted by the team from Squirr Saloon and Spa gave the children an opportunity to experience personalized care, styling, self-care assistance, and joyful transformation. These moments helped the girls feel confident, appreciated, and emotionally uplifted, reinforcing the idea that self-care is deeply connected to self-worth and confidence.

Emotional Wellness & Positive Engagement – Creating Spaces of Comfort and Encouragement

The initiative focused on creating a safe and cheerful atmosphere where children could freely interact, laugh, and express themselves. Through positive conversations, encouragement, and supportive interaction, volunteers nurtured emotional comfort and built meaningful connections with the children.

Confidence Building & Empowerment – Helping Young Voices Shine

Through motivational interaction, social engagement, and joyful activities, Project AWAKENING encouraged children to believe in themselves and embrace their individuality with confidence. The initiative aimed to strengthen self-esteem and inspire the girls to dream bigger, speak confidently, and feel proud of who they are.

Future phases aim to expand into more institutions through regular wellness programs, creative workshops, mentorship sessions, and emotional support activities.

By building partnerships with wellness professionals, volunteers, youth leaders, and social organizations, the initiative seeks to create long-term positive impact while nurturing a culture of compassion, inclusion, and child-centered care.
